Online Dating in the Philippines

Survey of opinions in the USA says.

  • Half of Americans believe dating sites and apps have had neither a positive nor negative effect on dating and relationships for society as a whole.

  • A quarter think its effect has been mostly negative.

  • A quarter think its effect has been mostly positive.

User experiences in the USA.

Positive - Almost 2/3 of Americans who have ever used a dating site or app say their own personal experiences have been positive.

Negative - Roughly seven-in-ten online daters believe it is very common for those who use these platforms to lie to try to appear more desirable.

Men who have online dated in the past five years are far more likely than women to feel as if they did not get enough messages.

Women who have online dated in he past five years are five times as likely as men to think they were sent too many messages.

No Accountability Problem (Generally Speaking).

People have traditionally met potential partners through established social networks, whether it’s through school, work, church, sports clubs, or other social groups. When meeting someone in this way, we are each held accountable for our behavior. If one person behaved poorly on the date or after, then others in the social group would know and there would likely be a consequence for your actions.

Being Disposable.

  • The vast array of choice when it comes to a potential partner means that a less than perfect relationship will be given up on much easier than in traditional dating.

  • many of us fall under the illusion that ‘the grass is always greener’ or ‘the best is yet to come’, and we therefore disregard perfectly good situations, jobs, or relationships in the pursuit of a more ‘perfect match’.

TikTok and all OnlyFans account holders.

  • It is a dopamine hit and a true biological response like cocaine that keeps those types of individuals seeking attention from others. They need continued feeding like a drug addict. This makes them unsuitable for a quality long lasting relationship.

  • I believe we will see a crisis in the future with these young women realizing that no good man wants them. Whether a Filipina or American, I would not have anything to do with a female who feeds off TikTok likes by dancing in an erotic manner, twerking or posing braless or in underwear. PEROID.

The Filipina Difference - Fact!

  • Most Filipinas are conservative and prefer an older man who is past the age of cheating and looking for the next best thing.

  • Respect for elders and everyone here is the key difference. In 8 months I’ve not seen one argument, fight, or road rage incident.

Why we may want to use dating site Before arrival.

  • To verify we are actually desirable (and the Filipina is not a myth) before we commit to selling everything and moving to the Philippines.

  • We strongly desire companionship and will leverage this desire to meet our online person as a powerful reason to make the move actually happen. - We have to have a why in life -

  • Uncertainty of moving to foreign country with no one we know there for support.

Dangers of using too early

  • Spending too long building a relationship and developing feelings for a person we’ve never met increases the opportunity for manipulation fraud. We may build a serious in our mind relationship and arrive only to find them married and stringing along men as a job.

  • We may arrive and not like the area

  • We may not like the family

  • Trying to establish a relationship and gain trust from a Filipina is tough because few men actually show up. If one of the people she is talking to shows up, don’t be surprised if you are ghosted.

Why we may want to use dating site once we have arrived and are settled if.

  • We have no transportation, making it difficult to get out and meet others

  • We want to quickly find a match that is nearby and shares same values and interests.

  • We are physically impaired and unable to be out regularly meeting people in person.

#1 Danger of using dating site while in the Philippines

You will be exhausted with the attention you get.

If we decide to use a site.

  • Be very clear about what you are looking for in a relationship and don’t settle for less

  • Don’t lose sight of your worth. online dating does open you up to more frequent rejection, and feeling replaceable, but always remember who you are, what you are worth, and who you deserve to be with.

  • Don’t be angry or upset that a Filipina is talking to other men early on. You will be doing the same thing so don’t expect anything different. Once a relationship emerges, then it’s a different story.

  • Limit the time that you spend on dating apps and balance this out with spending time making new friends and experiencing the culture.

  • Be open to meeting people the ‘traditional’ way as well as using dating apps. Just because dating apps are no longer the exception doesn’t mean that there is no other way.

  • Recognize that you can only ‘fake-it-till-you-make-it’ for so long, and after a while this will be a drain on your emotional and mental resources. It’s much better to be yourself from the start than to be rejected later down the line.

  • Don’t be abusive.

My opinion - Yes or No.

  • No prior to arrival.. Build relationship with expats via Facebook groups, don’t worry about a female until you’re settled.

  • Absolutely yes - Once you are here…
